About the Institute ..
Executive Committee

The Canada-United States Law Institute Executive Committee is the governing body of CUSLI and is responsible for all CUSLI policies, programs and other activities, subject to the supervision by the National Directors. The Executive Committee meets on a regular basis to review CUSLI'S budget and financing, as well as current and future programs.

The Executive Committee is comprised of eight Advisory Board members and a Chair. Among the eight Advisory Board members, four Advisory Board members are Canadian, and four Advisory Board members are from the he United States. In addition, the National Directors and President are ex officio members of the Executive Committee.

Case Western Reserve University School of Law Prof. Henry T. King, Jr., a former Nuremburg prosecutor and renowned international trade practitioner and scholar, presently serves as the Chair of the Executive Committee and Advisory Board. Dr. King has served as the United States Director of the Canada-United States Law Institute and chair of the Niagara Moot Court Competition since 1983. A graduate of Yale College and Yale Law School, Dr. Kings's career includes extensive experience in the areas of private and public international law. Shortly after embarking on his legal career, Dr. King was selected as prosecutor at the Nuremberg War Crimes Trials where he participated in the preparation and trial of cases against the major German war criminals. As a result of this experiences at Nuremberg, Dr. King authored a book about one of the defendants, The Two Worlds of Albert Speer, and numerous articles relating to international criminal law.

Dr. King's government and corporate experience includes service as Deputy General Counsel and Later Acting General Counsel of the International Cooperation Administration (U.S.> Foreign Economic Aid Program), Washington, D.C.; Corporate Counsel to Bunge Corporation of New York; Chief Corporate International Counsel of TRW Inc. and Chair of International Operation of Council II of the Machinery and Allied Products Institute, Washington, D.C.

Dr. King has served as chair of the Section of International Law and Practice of the American Bar Association, chair of the American Bar Association/Canadian Bar Association/Barra Mexican Joint Working Group on the Resolution of International Disputes and President of the Greater Cleveland International Lawyers Group.

Dr. King has received numerous awards including the Whitney North Seymour Award of the American Arbitration Association and honorary life membership by the Canadian Bar Association. The University of Western Ontario has awarded an honorary degree of Doctor of Civil Laws to Dr. King.

Dr. King currently is a Professor of Law at Case Western Reserve University School of Law and is of Counsel with Squire, Sanders and Dempsey, Cleveland, Ohio. In light of Dr. King's continuing accomplishments in fostering of Canada-United States relations, the Government of Canada appointed Dr. King the first Honorary Consul for Northeastern Ohio in 2004.
