Susan Kohn Ross

SUSAN KOHN ROSS

Ms. Ross joined Mitchell Silberberg & Knupp LLP as International Trade Counsel on January 1, 2008. Prior to that she was affiliated with Rodriguez O'Donnell Ross Gonzalez & Williams, P.C. having joined it in June 2002 as the Los Angeles resident partner. She was previously the founder of S.K. Ross & Assoc., P.C. She is a graduate of the University of California at Los Angeles and Southwestern University School of Law and has practiced for more than twenty (20) years in the areas of Customs, international trade, transportation and import/export law. In addition, she also holds an individual customs broker's license.

Ms. Ross is a co-founder of Trade Lawyers Log and Women Lawyers Blog. She is also the co-creator of CTPAT Made Easy, Inc., and on-line application program which facilitates companies becoming members of the Customs-Trade Partnership Against Terrorism Ms. Ross is currently a member of two subcommittees formed by Homeland Security's Departmental Advisory Committee on Commercial Operations of CBP (COAC), one dealing with the 10+2 advance trade data elements and the other involving expansion of C-TPAT and CSI. She was previously a member of Treasury's COAC Sub-Committee on Border Security, the NFTA Advisory Committee on Private Commercial Disputes an Customs' NAFTA Advisory Committee. She is a prolific author and frequent speaker on trade issues including service as a former member of the Editorial Board of the North American Trade Guide and is currently a monthly columnist for Journal of Commerce On-line. She is also the author of the Fines, Penalties and Forfeitures Chapter in Import Handbook, A Compliance and Planning Guide, published by John Wiley & Sons, Inc.

Ms. Ross is also involved in many bar and trade association activities including various regional broker/forwarder and other international trade associations, including the American Association of Exporters and Importers, Women in International Trade, Los Angeles and Orange County Chapters. She also serves as a Director-at-Large and Legislative Advisor to the Foreign Trade Association of Southern California.
